SANAHIN: The legend says in the 4th century Grigor Lusavorich put a cross in the place of the future church. St. Astwatsatsin Church was built from 928 to 944 by Armeniens monks who had arrived from Byzantium. HAGHBAT: The monastery of Haghbat is 7 km from the city of Alaverdi. It has 4 churches, two chaples,
a library,a refectory, belfries and grave monuments and is surrounded with a wall. The monastery was created between the 10th and 13th century.
